Champagner racing days in Gmunden Bay!

The bay of Gmunden provided the perfect venue for the Austrian National Championship of Handicap Racing (Yardstick) which was part of Austria’s biggest regatta week, the Allianz Traunsee Woche 2012.

The Handicap championship was hosted by the ASKOE Gmunden, a club which will support the 2012 Micro World Championship. All 6 schedules races were organised and the conditions proved to be perfect: every day wind, ranging from 6-8knots (force 2-3) on day 1 to 12-16knots (force 3-4) on day 2 up to 20knots (force 5) on day 3.

The new Austrian Champion on Handicap Racing is Micro AUT-49 with Helmut Czasny / Peter Wagner / Werner Eisenbart; they won the series even without racing the last race.

Gmunden showed that it will be a perfect venue for the World Championships later this year – great racing, beautiful place, very good and experienced race management team and fantastic hospitality! I really look forward to August when all Micro friends from more than 10 nations will visit Lake Traunsee!” said Helmut Czasny, the happy newly crowned Austrian champion.
